Shaping our Shaping Table

Our friend Garry at Parlour Furniture in Eaglescliffe has been making us a bespoke shaping table this week using tulip wood, with a birch ply and formica top. He’s also making us some shelves for our spices and other inclusions.

We love working with talented craftspeople, tying in with our ethic, and you can’t get more helpful and bespoke as Garry. Our shaping table is 220cm long and 95cm wide with back to back drawers at one end, and rack shelving beneath. This is as big as we could go within our space - to allow 2 baker/shapers to stand at each side of the table - to tray-up batches of 18-21 loaves per oven deck x 4 decks at a time. Garry also made our new shop front starting with some big lumps of rough-sawn pitch pine that I picked up Hexham-way. I’ll post our finished shop front/project and other crafted furnishings in due course.
