We’re launching a campaign to help Little Baby Jesus reach number 1 for Christmas 2022, and we need your help!
Christmas isn’t Christmas without a bit of Carmen & Dick, who have played regular hilarious one-off Christmas shows at The Waiting Room for the past 20 years. Christmas 2022 will actually mark our 20th anniversary together - and to mark the occasion The Waiting Room is sponsoring a campaign to get their song Little Baby Jesus to the top of the hit parade. The song has the catchiest chorus - that you’ll still be singing into June, and easypeasy dance moves that “even your Nan” will be smashing come Christmas day.

Little Baby Jesus is a nailed-on Christmas number 1 hit, and if anyone deserves the annual millions that will flow from a massive worldwide Christmas hit - its Carmen and Dick.
To kick-start our campaign we’re making a demo video at The Waiting Room next month on Sunday night February 27th with some old film-maker pals. Game volunteers are invited to apply for tickets to come to the show, and take part in the video. Participants will be asked to arrive in Christmas gear and to do anything else we think of on the day - including singing and dancing along to the chorus of course.
This show and video-take will be limited to 60 people - (so good luck) but then if you do miss out we plan to follow that up by making further live videos of an escalating scale towards our ultimate Little Baby Jesus Christmas video by the autumn - to be played on Top of The Pops, The Tube, The One Show and the like - for when the song is finally ‘released’ in December. (We’re pretty sure that’s how it works)
Meanwhile if anyone has any other ideas for getting Little Baby Jesus to Number 1 this Christmas, or personally knows a good celebrity or two for a cameo role (we had Prince Andrew in for the last Christmas show, but we’re thinking more Vic and Bob or Kat Slater and Alfie Moon say*) then please let us know.
*I had a lovely Christmas moment whilst playing ukulele in Notting Hill one time with Kat and Alfie, and another darker and even more surreal moment comes to think of it - only a few years ago - with Dirty Nick on West Street in Yarm, Naughty Nick I mean, sorry.
