Alright already, here we go again with our Blog. (We had a practice go for some weeks in 2022 - but this time’s 4 REAL!

Duo Impair

For the past month we have hosted two artists in residence at The Waiting Room, to coincide with a new studio we have been building at the back of vvroom - our vegetarian takeaway next door.

Claire and Hadrien are brilliant graphic artists from Paris. We invited them to stay with us for a month-long residency, to do what they liked basically. They have responded to the restaurant and our existing paper collage graphics (which I made 20 years ago) with some beautiful new cut paper illustrations and a new typographic font.

They have been lovely guests. I met Claire through another project; the Supastore by artist Sarah Staton (now head of Sculpture at the RCA). We have got to know Claire and Hadrien during their stay as they have gotten to know The Waiting Room, so that we plan to work together some more over the next year or two as we put together our long-promised Waiting Room book of the restaurant.
